Logo design and illustration explorations and experimentations
These are some rough logo and illustration experimentations that I have produced just to give my self a clear understanding about what I want to do with my project and what its all about and also to develop what world I want to create with in the north west and how I view the north west of England with my own eyes and imagination.
With these illustrations I am trying to convey the way I view Manchester and the North West of England as I have illustrated different sceneries and stereo types that link to the north west such as a row of housing estates and mills with tall chimneys with black smoke polluting the air. For those set of images I have taken inspiration from a polluted Thatcher era in the 80s, as the north west is known for being a working class region as for the working class were struggling during that time as they worked in places like cole mines and had low pay. The mills and factories in Manchester and the North West have been around since way back in the 1800s as Manchester was the industrial capital of the world during that time.

I have also drawn imagery of pigeons as I feel that is another thing that represents the cold, gloomy, dirty north west and could also add to the dark humour that I intend to show on my promotional branding with in my beer labels.
For the king monkey pieces, they represent a cult figure from Manchester called Ian Brown who was the lead singer of the cult Manchester band The Stone Roses. Ian Brown was nick named 'king monkey' as he simply had similar features of a monkey.

With my logo designs I decided to add a bee, known as 'The Worker Bee' which is known as a symbol for Manchester's hardworking tradition through out the years, especially with the industrial revolution as Manchester was the leading City for the textiles and cotton trade. Bees are known for being hard workers, that's why they symbolise the city.

With The Zeppelin airship I wanted to use as theres something fascinating about the structure of the ship and I thought I could use it with in the industrial side to my project and it could add a sci-fi, fictional feel to my project which can contribute to giving my promotional art some character and maybe towards a political side to the project.
